The process of the design is based on the Anishinaabe story of creation. A story which explains how the landscape and plants were created first, then the animals and then the humans. This is to express that humans are dependent on both the land and the animals for survival, thus they must be prioritized. This is applied to the project by first identifying existing spaces on site with certain qualities. Those spaces are not to be built on, but allowed to change over time with minimal human interference. As the spaces evolve and expand, so do the benefits they provide to the built areas of the site.
